St. Pat’s Pro-Am Surfing Competition

Saturday March 20th, 6:00 pm SL time,  Neart,  West of Ireland

The St. Pats Pro-Am Surf Competion is intended to be a fun event for both new surfers and seasoned competitors.  Please read the information and rules carefully, this competition will follow a format designed to be fast and fun.

WHO MAY ENTER:
Professional and Amateur surfers may enter, per the following conditions and definitions.
Professional surfers who have ever finished top 5 in SLSA standings are not elgible to enter.
Amateur Surfers are those that have never entered into any SL surf competion. Any surf competition includes any SLSA, SurfJam, TCH, Cornish, SurfCity, JSLSA, or Brazilian Surf Association event.
Professionals are those that have entered into any surf competition in SL, however top 5 finishers in any SLSA season shall not be elgible.

HOW TO ENTER:
Send a notecard to both Bobbi Laval and Cipriano Grut.
Name the notecard  “St.Pats Pro-Am Entry”.
Include your name and if your are registering as a Pro or Amateur.
Entrys will only be accepted from Friday March 6th till Midnight Sunday March 15th.
10 amateur entries and 10 professional entries will be accepted.  If 10 entries have not been recieved for each division entry deadline my be extended for the division/s. If more than 10 entries are received in any division/s 10 entries will be drawn at random to participate.  Drawing will take place at Nancy Blake’s Pub in West of Ireland at 6pm SL time on Monday March 16th. A standby fill in list will also be drawn in the event there are noshows or late check-ins on the day of the event.

COMPETITION FORMAT:
All surfers will be scored based on SLSA judging criteria with minor modifications based on competition format.  Awards for top three in each of the folling catagories will be awarded: Top three surfers overall,  Top three amateur surfers,  Top three teams (teams will randomly be selected and will consist of one Pro Rider and on Amateur Rider)

Check-in and surfers meeting will begin promptly at 6pm sl time. Surfers not present at the 6pm meeting will not be elgible to surf and the next surfer on the standby list will be substituted. Immediately following the competitors meeting there will be a short party wave warm-up session for 5 minutes, then all surfers who are not in top three of line up will be asked to go to the spectator stands.

There will be two heats in this event. One 10 person heat for Professionals followed by a second 10 person heat for Amateurs.  Surfers in each heat will surf in order of lineup in heat draws.  Each surfer will surf for 3 minutes.  The Beach Marshal will till surfers when they may begin surfing, at which time they will paddle out and begin surfing. The three minute time will begin when they catch their first wave.  At the end of 3 minutes an air horn will blow and the surfer will receive an IM that they are done.  Ony 3 competitors shall be in the surf sim at a time, the surfer competing, the next surfer in the line up, and the next surfer on deck. At the conclusion of the surfers 3 minutes they will promptly return to shore and exit the surf sim to the spectator stands.

Following Heat 1 their will be a 10 minute party wave / warm-up session for all competitors, following Heat 2 will procede in the same format as Heat 1.
Following Heat 2 there will be a partywave session while judges tabulate scores.
Awards party will follow after judges have tabulated scores.

RULES:
Short Boards or Longboards will be allowed.
Boards must have Heather Goodliffe scripts version 5.1 or 5.2
Boards must be, or must have been available for retail sale (no mod/copy boards allowed, copy boards with custom graphics are allowed if otherwise unmodified)
SLSA rules apply as they may be applicable.
